Le LLACAN accueille actuellement Tekabe Legesse Feleke, un doctorant de l’Université de Vérone et boursier du Labex EFL pendant trois mois (octobre à décembre 2019). Topic: A Combined Approach towards Measuring Linguistic Distance: A Study on South Ethiosemitic Languages

Description: My research project examines the linguistic distance among selected south Ethiosemitic languages – specifically the Gurage varieties. It investigates the linguistic distance among the languages from three perspectives: structural, functional and perceptual. It also explores the linguistic and extra-linguistic factors that contribute to the distance among the languages.

Le LLACAN accueille actuellement Anastasia Yakovleva, une doctorante de l’École des hautes études en sciences économiques à Moscou et boursière du Labex EFL pendant trois mois (septembre à novembre 2019). Sa thèse (en cours) porte sur les expressions de l’espace en grec.

Voilà une petite description du projet qu’Anastasia souhaite partager avec nous :

My PhD project “Greek spatial terms in diachrony: right/left and cardinal directions” deals with diachronic linguistic analysis of spatial relations based on Greek data. Since this language has a long written history, these data enable us to track down the diachronic development of spatial expressions. I aspire to enrich my analysis with a broader typological perspective and investigate linguistic representation of spatial relations at a more general theoretical level. During my stay in CNRS I am going to consult with leading specialists on structurally diverse and genetically unrelated languages, and to test my hypotheses on a typologically relevant sample.
