Cahiers de littérature orale
The journal Cahiers de Littérature Orale (CLO), established by Geneviève Calame-Griaule and a group of researchers in 1976, is the only French publication dedicated to the study of the verbal art of oral cultures worldwide. This encompasses the study of oral literature genres and of everything related to the context of orality and to codified speech, including fictional productions – ranging up to their most modern forms – of literate cultures where oral and written forms coexist. The journal publishes original contributions in French and in English as well as book reviews. It is addressed, first and foremost, to researchers in the field of oral literature but it also targets experts dealing with orality from a practical and applied perspective (librarians, persons in charge of media centres, storytellers) as well as an educated non-professional audience.
The journal is hence affiliated to the research center LLACAN (INALCO – CNRS).
