The Mande language group constitutes a branch of the Niger-Congo language phylum. The Mande area extends across several countries in West Africa, i.e., essentially, Mali, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Burkina Faso.

Mandenkan is a journal specialising on the study of Mande linguistics of all domains. It was founded in 1981 and occurs annually. An electronic version of all issues is available online. The paper version is distributed free of charge to research centres and universities in the field of study as well as to specialists who have no internet access. The publication of Mandenkan is financed by LLACAN and INALCO. The editor-in-chief is Valentin Vydrine.

Mandenkan accepts articles in French and English on all aspects of Mande linguistics from a diachronic, typological or descriptive perspective. We also publish original data from language corpora, especially of little known languages. The articles have to be submitted in electronic format and in accordance with the style sheet. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review.
